I have always had a love for music and having studied music my whole life, including getting a BMus Music performance and MMus Music at University level, the next logical step for me was to further study pianos. This led me to studying under accomplished piano technician Steve Droy at the Piano Technology School. This gave me a solid knowledge of how to tune and common repairs that come up on the road. After this I went on to work at Forsyths music shop as one of their on site technicians, where I have furthered my knowledge immensely, and still work part time.
I offer a wide range of services such as minor piano repairs, standard tunings, pitch raises and regulation.
My process depends on the service you request.
Repairs start with a thorough assessment of your instrument's condition and then provide a detailed estimate of the repair costs and timeline. Once approved, I begin the repair work using high-quality parts and materials.
Tunings start with an assessment of pitch, and then I will recommend either a standard tuning or pitch raise, depending on where the pitch of your piano sits.
Basic Tuning, no pitch raise
Piano tuning with pitch raise, to rectify any slip in pitch, the stability in the piano and to bring the piano to concert pitch
Small repairs that may cause issues when playing e.g. replacement of felts, bridal tapes, replacing key tops
Individual issues to regulation e.g. sticking notes, sluggish hammers, note repetition or pedal adjustment
A full regulation of the entire action to amend the playability of the instrument
If piano tunings/repairs are unattended by the customer a £40 call-out fee will be charged
